Producer Overview

The Florensac region is one of the oldest vineyard areas near the Mediterranean coast, and uniquely for the South of France, it specialises in white wine production. The cooling breezes from the coast help to moderate the heat, allowing for the production of elegant white wines. The vineyards are situated on high ground with clay and limestone soils, and the vines are carefully harvested at night to preserve their freshness and aromatic qualities. 

After fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees with regular stirring, enhancing its richness and smooth texture. This is a bright, pale yellow Picpoul, offering fresh aromas of white flowers, acacia, and hawthorn, a true “gourmet” Picpoul.

Viticulture

The vines are grown on elevated land with a mix of clay and limestone soils. Sustainability is at the core of Vignerons de Florensac’s practices, avoiding chemical treatments. To protect the grapes from oxidation and maintain their freshness, they are harvested by machine at night when temperatures are cooler.

Winemaking

An environmentally conscious producer, oenologist Roques Stephane uses eco-friendly pest management techniques in the vineyard. The winery also reduces its carbon footprint by harnessing solar energy to power refrigeration units that keep the grapes and juice cool during maceration and fermentation.

After maceration, the grapes are gently pressed in a pneumatic press, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures using cultured yeasts.

Tasting Notes

This Picpoul has a pale yellow colour with green highlights. It is fresh and vibrant, with enticing aromas of grapefruit and citrus fruits, complemented by lively citrus and stone fruit flavours on the palate.

Ideal with oysters, lighter seafood dishes, or creamy meals where the wine's acidity balances the richness.
