Overview

A luscious blend of 65% Chenin Blanc from a 40-year-old Franschhoek vineyard and 35% Grenache Blanc from Paarl, this wine offers a succulent and vibrant profile. Both varieties undergo natural fermentation and are aged for six months in second and third-fill 600-liter French oak barrels.

Production

Wildeberg sources grapes from the finest vineyards across Franschhoek and the Coastal Region, selecting specific cuvées to craft their Wildeberg and Terroir Series releases. For Coterie by Wildeberg, a small, distinct selection of these cuvées is chosen. The Chenin Blanc, from a low-yielding, 1962 Franschhoek vineyard, adds freshness and structure to the blend.

The Grenache Blanc, sourced from younger, dynamic vines in Paarl, contributes body and rich, exotic aromas of jasmine and white spice. Both varieties are naturally fermented in French oak barrels—65% in second-fill and 35% in third-fill.

Tasting Notes

The wine opens with a ripe, aromatic nose featuring white peach, apricot, and delicate jasmine florals. On the palate, the old bush vine Chenin Blanc imparts texture and generosity, while the younger Grenache Blanc adds layers of exotic spice and floral nuances. The finish is rich, fresh, and beautifully textured.

Food Pairing

This full-bodied, textural wine pairs wonderfully with aromatic dishes such as Thai or Malay green fish curries, lemongrass and coriander-infused recipes, or grilled line fish.
